The Brickfield School Project conducted a comprehensive Capacity Building Training for its teachers on 27th November 2025, bringing together newly recruited educators from Kalyani, Sibdaspur, Akra, and Budge Budge. The training focused on strengthening teaching skills, enhancing classroom engagement, and building a unified understanding of the project’s academic framework.

The session began with teacher introductions, allowing participants to connect and understand one another’s backgrounds. This was followed by an in-depth discussion on teachers’ responsibilities, emphasising the role they play in shaping the educational experiences of migrant children living in brickfield environments.

The facilitators then provided a detailed explanation of the curriculum, ensuring clarity on learning objectives and expected outcomes. Teachers collaboratively prepared monthly and weekly lesson plans, enabling them to design structured and child-friendly learning pathways.

A key segment of the training involved planning and demonstrating student group-wise activities, strengthening teachers’ ability to handle multi-level classroom situations. Participants learned to create worksheets and understand their effective use through live demonstrations. Engaging segments such as action rhymes, educational games, topic conversations, and storytelling techniques were introduced to help teachers make learning joyful and interactive.

One of the highlights of the day was the creation of innovative Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs). Using simple, cost-effective resources, teachers produced colourful flashcards, number aids, and activity boards — tools designed to spark curiosity and enhance retention among young learners.

The training concluded with teachers’ feedback, where participants expressed how the session boosted their confidence and prepared them for the new academic cycle.

“Strengthening teaching skills today to enrich every child’s learning tomorrow.”
