A Day of Joy and Togetherness — Exposure Visit to Nicco Park
02 Nov 2025
Nicco Park, Kolkata
In a heartwarming initiative that celebrated joy, unity, and human dignity, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) organised an exposure visit to Nicco Park on 2nd November 2025, bringing together 140 participants — including members of the mothers’ group from the MIST Project, children and youth from the Providing Education and Protection to Vulnerable Children (PEPVC) Project, and project staff.
For many of the participants from Sonagachi, one of Kolkata’s largest red-light districts, daily life is marked by hardship and uncertainty. This visit offered them a rare opportunity to break free from their struggles, immerse themselves in joy, and rediscover the simple happiness of togetherness.
The day was filled with laughter, excitement, and wonder as participants enjoyed the park’s various attractions and shared moments of fun and bonding. For the children, it was a day of pure exhilaration; for the mothers, a long-awaited moment of relaxation and connection; and for the youth, an inspiring glimpse of life beyond their everyday realities.
The event highlighted the transformative power of shared experiences — creating space for healing, empowerment, and hope. It also reinforced KMWSC’s ongoing commitment to restoring dignity and self-worth among individuals from at-risk and marginalised communities.
As the day drew to a close, smiles and stories replaced the worries of everyday life, leaving behind cherished memories and a renewed sense of belonging.
“Because every heart deserves a day to smile, dream, and feel free.”
