On 29th October 2025, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) organised a comprehensive capacity building training for the core adolescent group from Dhapa under the IDENTITY Project. The session focused on two crucial themes — child labour and a refresher training on the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences).
Through a series of interactive activities, engaging group work, and powerful video presentations, the training offered a safe and open space for adolescents to reflect on the realities of exploitation and their rights as children. Participants discussed the long-term impact of child labour, explored real-life scenarios, and shared their perspectives on ways to prevent such violations within their communities.
The refresher session on the POCSO Act deepened their understanding of legal safeguards and reporting mechanisms, ensuring that they are better equipped to recognise, respond to, and prevent incidents of abuse or exploitation. The combination of legal awareness and emotional reflection created an empowering learning experience for all participants.
The adolescents actively engaged throughout the session, demonstrating curiosity, empathy, and leadership. Their enthusiasm reaffirmed the importance of nurturing young voices as advocates for child rights and social justice.
KMWSC remains committed to shaping an informed generation — one that understands its rights, stands against injustice, and builds safer, stronger communities.
“Knowledge empowers. Awareness protects. Together, we rise against exploitation.”
