A delightful and skill-enriching workshop on preparing cookies and muffins was conducted on 9th October 2025 at the Bakery Unit of Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) under the Kolkata Slums Project. The session aimed to equip adolescents with hands-on culinary skills while fostering creativity, teamwork, and confidence in a joyful learning environment.
A total of 10 adolescents (2 boys and 8 girls) from the New Alipore Centre actively participated in the workshop. Guided by experienced trainers, the participants explored every step of the baking process — from understanding ingredients and mixing techniques to decorating their freshly baked treats. The aroma of success and sweet accomplishment filled the air as each participant proudly showcased their creations.
Beyond the kitchen, the session served as a platform for nurturing entrepreneurial thinking and life skills development, encouraging participants to view skill-based learning as a stepping stone toward self-reliance and future livelihood opportunities.
Workshops like these not only enhance technical skills but also promote self-expression, discipline, and a sense of achievement among young learners — empowering them to rise above limitations and create their own success stories.
“Every skill learned today is a recipe for a brighter tomorrow.”
