Empowering Schools Against Exploitation: SCAR Project Awareness Session
11 Aug 2025
10.30am
Tentulia High School, Basirhat
KMWSC’s Anti-Human Trafficking - SCAR Project partnered with Swarupnagar Police Station to conduct a critical awareness session on 11th August 2025 at Tentulia High School, Basirhat. The program empowered 150 participants — including at-risk students, teachers, community members, and police personnel (OC, SI, Civic Volunteers) — to combat human trafficking, child marriage, and cybercrime.
Through interactive workshops, attendees learned to:
Recognise grooming tactics and exploitation risks
Identify signs of trafficking and forced marriage
Practice digital safety to prevent cybercrime
Utilize reporting mechanisms via police and helplines
The Headmistress and police officials co-facilitated discussions, bridging schools and law enforcement. Students engaged in scenario-based activities, transforming from potential victims into informed guardians of their safety. Community members gained tools to monitor vulnerabilities, while teachers received resources to integrate safety protocols into school culture.
"Every attendee is now a sentinel. Schools are our frontline defense."
The SCAR Project distributed handbooks detailing emergency contacts and legal rights, ensuring sustained impact beyond the session.
Why This Matters
Such initiatives create protective ecosystems where education, policing, and community watchfulness converge. By equipping Basirhat’s most vulnerable with knowledge and allies, we disrupt cycles of exploitation before they begin.
