Celebrating World Youth Skills Day with Aspiring Professionals

Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) proudly observed World Youth Skills Day on 15th July 2025 with the enthusiastic participation of trainees from its Skill Development Unit. The celebration, held at the KMWSC office in Kolkata, was a tribute to the spirit of learning, self-reliance, and the transformative power of skills in shaping young lives.

A total of 40 trainees attended the event, representing various vocational units including tailoring, beautician, and other livelihood-based training programmes. The programme served as both a celebration and a reminder of the value of equipping young people — especially those from marginalised communities — with practical and employable skills.

The session began with a reflection on the global significance of World Youth Skills Day, followed by interactive discussions where trainees shared how their training at KMWSC has empowered them to dream bigger and aim higher. Trainers and staff members encouraged the youth to remain committed to lifelong learning and spoke about how skills can lead not only to employment but to independence, dignity, and confidence.

The event also featured motivational storytelling, where alumni success stories were shared to inspire current trainees. Light refreshments were provided to the participants as a mark of appreciation for their dedication and to celebrate their journey toward self-reliance.
