A Big Thanks to Sr. Marilla, the principal of Loreto School Elliot Road, 7 teachers and 38 students for visiting Brick Field Schools Project centres at Pujali, Budge budge in district of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. All the teachers, students and principal were welcomed by the BFS team in the field on behalf of the director of KMWSC at Indian Brick kiln, Budgebudge. They were given orientation on the BFS programme, its activities and implementation. After the orientation the students were divided into 5 groups. The groups were accompanied by 2 local teachers along with a BFS team member and one teacher from the school. The five groups were taken to five BFS centres. Each group was shown the curriculum and lesson plan in every center. The students also taught the children of brick field as per the lesson plan. The students conducted games and played with them. They also distributed food to the children along with BFS local teachers. The students took the attendance of children in each brick field centre. This exposure was both ways learning. The BFS center children got opportunity to speak, interact, play and learn rhymes with actions from the students. The students also learnt the plight of migrant children who are deprived of opportunities to attend the schools and are not able to access the basic needs and facilities. Indeed this exposure will create and inculcate a soft corner in the hearts of students for the underprivileged, marginalized and deprived children and for social cause.
The students, Teachers and principal had a quality time with the migrant children in the brick field centers. Lots of positivism and satisfactions could be seen in the smiles of the students as they were coming back from the centers. All of them enjoyed imparting knowledge, games, action songs, rhymes which they have learnt in the school.
