On 22nd March 2025, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) conducted a Capacity Building Program for Mothers under the Surokhit Shaishav Project, focusing on "Understanding Parenting in the Context of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Issues." The program aimed to equip mothers with knowledge and practical strategies to support their children's emotional and psychological well-being.

The session emphasised the importance of positive parenting, early identification of mental health concerns, and effective communication between parents and children. Experts facilitated discussions on common challenges faced by adolescents, behavioural changes, and how a supportive home environment can contribute to their holistic development. Interactive activities and case studies helped mothers understand their role in fostering resilience and confidence in their children.

In addition to the training session, an exposure visit to Taki was organised for the participants. The visit provided an opportunity for mothers to engage in experiential learning while fostering peer bonding and collective reflection. This exposure visit also served as a stress-relief activity, allowing them to step away from their daily routines and share their experiences in a supportive setting.

The program successfully enhanced the participants' understanding of their children's mental health needs while empowering them with tools to create a nurturing and safe environment at home. KMWSC remains committed to strengthening families and ensuring the well-being of children through such impactful initiatives.
