Ensuring Quality Education : Director’s Monitoring Visit to Brickfield Schools at Kalyani

  • 19 Mar 2025 - 19 Mar 2025
  • 10.30am
  • Kalyani in Nadia District

On 19th March 2025, Director Sr. Biviyana and the Project Coordinator of the Brickfield School (BFS) Project conducted a Director-Level Monitoring Visit to assess the functioning of the Kalyani Brickfield Schools. The visit aimed to ensure quality education, effective teaching methodologies, and overall program efficiency in the brickfield schools catering to the children of migrant labourers.

The visit commenced at RBF BFS, followed by inspections at eight other BFS centres—India, Nadia, Santi, MSW, Model Centre, Tony, SBF, and Jaiswal-A. The monitoring process involved a comprehensive evaluation of multiple aspects of school operations, including:

  • Teaching Methodology – Observing lesson delivery, teacher engagement, and classroom management techniques.

  • Classroom Environment – Assessing arrangement of Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM), discipline, and student participation.

  • Record & Documentation – Reviewing lesson plans, student and teacher attendance registers, and daily food distribution records maintained by vendors.

  • Interaction with Stakeholders – Engaging with students, parents, and brickfield owners/managers to understand their experiences, challenges, and expectations.

The final leg of the visit included a teachers' meeting at MSW BFS, where the Director and Project Coordinator provided feedback on observations from the day. They appreciated the teachers' dedication while also offering suggestions for improvement in pedagogy, classroom engagement, and documentation. Teachers were encouraged to share any challenges they faced, fostering an open discussion on ways to enhance the learning environment for migrant children.

The visit reinforced KMWSC’s commitment to quality education and holistic child development in brickfield communities. Moving forward, the insights gained will be instrumental in strengthening the program, refining teaching strategies, and ensuring a supportive learning ecosystem for every child in the Brickfield Schools.
