Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) had the honour of hosting a delegation from Calcutta Rescue Netherlands on 20th February 2025. The visiting team, comprising Mr. Henk Loos, Ms. Lilian, and her friend, engaged in insightful discussions with KMWSC’s leadership and project teams, reinforcing the shared commitment to empowering marginalised communities.

A Warm Traditional Welcome

The visitors were greeted with a traditional Indian welcome, marked by the application of “Tika” on their foreheads and the presentation of “Uttorio”, a ceremonial scarf, symbolising warmth and respect. This gesture set the tone for a day of fruitful exchanges and collaborative discussions.

Engaging Dialogue on KMWSC’s Interventions

A formal meeting with the Director, program team, and Sack Farming project team provided an in-depth understanding of KMWSC’s initiatives. The program team delivered a comprehensive overview of the organisation’s key projects, highlighting achievements, challenges, and aspirations.   The Sack Farming project team shared valuable insights into the initiative’s progress and impact, emphasising its role in promoting sustainable agriculture and food security among marginalised communities. Discussions also revolved around the potential expansion of the project to two additional locations, underscoring the need for long-term agricultural solutions.

Exploring Future Collaborations

Beyond Sack Farming, the dialogue expanded to exploring new partnerships and strengthening ongoing interventions. The visitors engaged in strategic discussions on enhancing community development efforts, ensuring greater outreach and impact in vulnerable regions.

Fostering Camaraderie Over a Shared Meal

The visit concluded with a sumptuous lunch, where the KMWSC team and the guests engaged in informal yet meaningful conversations. This interaction deepened mutual understanding and reinforced the spirit of collaboration between KMWSC and Calcutta Rescue Netherlands.

A Step Towards Strengthening Impact

The visit of Mr. Henk Loos, Ms. Lilian, and her friend marked a significant step toward building stronger networks and fostering sustainable development efforts. KMWSC remains committed to working alongside like-minded partners to drive meaningful change in the lives of the most vulnerable. The organisation looks forward to continued collaboration with Calcutta Rescue Netherlands in creating lasting social impact.
