Breaking Barriers: Menstrual Health & Awareness at Gabodha High School

  • 07 Feb 2025 - 07 Feb 2025
  • Gabodha High School in Basirhat, North 24 Parganas district

On 7th February 2025, students of Gabodha High School in Basirhat participated in a transformative awareness session on menstrual health and hygiene, organised under the Anti-Human Trafficking Project. This joint initiative with “My Days” — a dedicated sanitary pad production unit of KMWSC — aimed to empower young girls and women with knowledge, resources, and confidence to navigate menstruation with dignity.

Key Activities:

1. Awareness Workshop:

• Interactive discussions debunked myths, addressed stigma, and emphasised the importance of menstrual hygiene. • Focused on linking menstrual health to education retention and safety, reducing vulnerabilities to exploitation.

2. Sanitary Pad Distribution:

• Sanitary pads, produced at the unit of the Organisation, were distributed to students, ensuring access to safe and sustainable menstrual products. • Demonstrated proper usage and disposal method to promote long-term hygiene practices.

3. Open Dialogue:

• Created a safe space for students to ask questions and share experiences, fostering a culture of openness and support.

Why It Matters:

Menstrual health is a critical component of empowerment and protection. By equipping students with knowledge and resources, the AHT Project and My Days are combating taboos that perpetuate inequality and reducing school absenteeism among girls.

About the Collaboration:

The Anti-Human Trafficking Project works to safeguard vulnerable communities through education and resource access. Partnering with My Days, this initiative bridges menstrual health with broader goals of gender equality, ensuring no girl is left behind.

Join the Movement! Support initiatives that empower girls and protect futures. Together, we can break cycles of silence and inequality.
