Director’s On-Site Monitoring Visit to Brickfield Schools in Haroa

Highlights:

On February 5, 2025, the Director of KMWSC and the Project Implementer of the Brickfield School (BFS) Project undertook a comprehensive monitoring visit to Haroa, overseeing the progress of the Brickfield School Project. The visit included inspections of multiple brickfield schools, direct engagement with stakeholders, and critical feedback sessions to strengthen the initiative’s impact.  

Key Activities & Observations: 

  1. School Visits:
  • The team visited BFS centre at RBC followed by four additional brickfield schools, namely, HBM, India, GCo., and Arvind.
  • The Director assessed teaching methodologies, teacher-student interactions, classroom management, and arrangements of Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs).
 
  1. Documentation Review:

  • Scrutinised lesson plans, daily food registers (to ensure nutritional compliance by vendors), and administrative records.
 
  1. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Interacted with children and parents to understand on-ground experiences and challenges.
  • Met brickfield owners, managers, and the doctor responsible for Phase 1 health camps, acknowledging their role in supporting children’s welfare.
 
  1. Feedback Session:

A dedicated meeting with all teachers of Haroa location was held at Arvind BFS was held, where the Director provided constructive feedback on teaching performance.  The teachers shared their challenges faced during the academic session. The Project Implementer shared plans for upcoming funder visits to showcase project outcomes.   Director’s Key Recommendations & Appreciation:

  • Innovative TLMs: Praised the creativity and effectiveness of teaching aids used in classrooms.

  • Community Collaboration: Highlighted the positive role of brickfield owners in prioritising children’s well-being within their brick kilns
