On 11th January 2025, a significant awareness program on menstrual health and hygiene was organised under the Tribal Community Development and Empowerment Project at Gangasagar village in the Sagar block of the Sundarban region. The session aimed to educate and empower tribal women with essential knowledge about menstrual hygiene, challenge societal taboos, and promote open conversations about menstrual health. The program witnessed active participation from 30 tribal women belonging to the Santal community. Through engaging discussions and hands-on demonstrations, the participants learned about effective menstrual hygiene management, the importance of using sanitary pads, and techniques for maintaining health during menstruation. The session also addressed prevalent myths and misconceptions, encouraging the women to adopt healthier practices with confidence. This initiative is a step towards dismantling the stigma associated with menstruation and building awareness that fosters dignity and well-being. By equipping women with accurate information and practical skills, the program aspires to create a more inclusive and supportive community where menstrual health is prioritised and normalised.
