“What you do has far greater impact than what you say.”
I would like to thank Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC), for giving me the opportunity to volunteer and contribute in making a change for the betterment of our society. It was an enriching experience to work in the sanitary pads unit called, “My Days” and also in making handmade paper bags. I learnt and helped in the production process of sanitary pads from scratch, i.e., the cutting, sterilization, packing, sealing, keeping count of the stock of pads, rolling of air laid sheets, etc. The name “My Days” has been inspired to create awareness and help sex workers maintain menstrual hygiene and sanitation during the few days which are their own. It was truly humbling to have been a part of this social centre which has already had, such a great impact in making a difference in the lives of the underprivileged with their various programs, and which will continue to grow and do more.
