On 21st April 2021, the Brick-field School Project conducted 3 health check-up camps covering 4 Brick-field Schools at Kalyani in Nadia District. 137 patients were screened at these health check-up camps. Alongside the health check-up camps, the project team also conducted health awareness campaigns among the parents of children registered at the 4 Brick-field Schools. In a phased manner, the project conducted 32 health check-up camps in the 1st phase covering 45 Brick-field schools from January to March. In the 2nd phase, 10 camps have been conducted till now covering 14 Brick-field Schools. Camps in remaining 31 brick-field schools will be completed within April. In continuation to our efforts of providing basic health-care services to migrant families in brickfields of West Bengal, 3 health camps were conducted on 23rd April 2021, covering 4 Brickfield Schools including the Model Centre in Akra – South 24 Parganas. Also on the same day, another 2 health camps were conducted covering 3 Brickfield Schools in Basirhat – North 24 Parganas. 240 patients were screened at these camps. Free medicines were distributed among the patients. Alongside the health check-up camps, heath awareness camps were also organised in which 126 migrant workers attended. Importance of hand washing and cleanliness were discussed at the awareness sessions. All programmes were conducted maintaining COVID safety protocols. On 26th April, 2021, the Brickfield School project organised 3 health camps covering 6 brickfield schools at Pujali in South 24 Parganas. 171 patients (Males:80, females:91) were screened at these 3 camps. Free medicines as per requirement were given to the patients. Alongside the medical camps, health awareness meetings were also held for the migrant families. Importance of using sanitizer, hand washing and social distancing were discussed at these awareness meetings.
