One Billion Rising Celebration on International women’s Day

To mark the International Women’s Day celebration Lodha Community Project celebrated One Billion Rising on 8th March 2021 with the women of village folk in Lodha community where the people of Lodhas are considered untouchables, outcaste from mainstream society. The chief guest was Mrs. Kuheli Gayen Das Head Teacher of Radhakrishnapur High School, the Special guest of honour was Mr. Debasis Samanta master trainer of child rights in the District., Mrs. Durga Rani Das first ANM Radhakrishnapur Sub-health Centre Mr. Manoranjan Patra, Head teacher, Indira Coching Centre, SHG group and Asha workers were present to witness and celebrate the OBR on Women’s Day. All the guests were welcomed with a bouquet, chandan tica and with a colorful badge & Sash. Honorable Mrs. Kuheli Gayen Das, Head teacher of Radhakrishnapur High School inaugurated the OBR by hoisting the flag of KMWSC. The programme started with the opening song sung by a small girl followed by the speech from the different dignitaries present for the programme. Approximately 180 women were actively involved in this programme. A powerful, motivating speech was delevered by Mrs. Debasish Samanta to encourage the women to fight for their rights and to strengthen their efforts. Among the participants Mrs. Nabanita Nanda of dance master highlighted the oppressed aspects of women through dancing ‘Ami sei meye. The childrens also participated in the dance, song at the Lodha Centre. After the rally all the women and participants were given snacks at the centre. All the guests and participants appreciated the programme as it was the Second time to celebrate OBR on women’s day together in the village.
