The new Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre Office has been  officially inaugurated on May 14,2016 at Loreto Entally Premises (1 Convent Lane , Kolkata -15). The programme was graced by the Most Rev. Thomas D’Souza, Archbishop of Kolkata and Sister Anita Braganza, province leader of the Loreto South Asian unit and the president of KMWSC. The event was hosted by KMWSC, and saw the participation of around 200 people. People from the public and private sectors,development organizations,Loreto Sisters, School principals,well-wishers came together for the opening ceremony at the new offices at Loreto Entally.
Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre is a pioneer organization in Kolkata working with dedication for the development and protection of children and women.The KMWSC is a unit of the Loreto Sisters where projects on education, child protection and women’s empowerment are being implemented to reach out to the most marginalized sections of society.Presently, the organization is proudly running 11 projects and a vocational training unit in several parts of West Bengal.Â
At the onset of the programme Mr.Sunil Lucas welcomed the gathering.To celebrate the beginning conchshell was blown as it is considered to be a symbol of purity, brilliance and auspiciousness.
An impressive and colourful cultural programme was organized. HDCL project children who represented each and every child served by KMWSC performed a dance. Prayer dance, by loreto candidates set the tone for the evening.The official inauguration was completed by raising the curtains over the sign board of the organization which was a spectacular event in itself.
The short payer conducted by his grace Archbishop Thomas, Sr. Anita and Sr. Monica followed by the blessing of the house by the Archbishop made the beginning of new chapter in the book of KMWSC sanctified. Rev.Thomas D’Souza, Archbishop of Kolkata performed House blessings by sprinkling holy water in each office room while praying for everyone.
The inaugural programme ended with a vote of thanks by Director of Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre Sister Monica Suchiang. The programme ended on a happy note
