14th February 2017…..oh what a footfall!!! KMWSC successfully mobilized 4000 people and beyond at Mohorkunj for ONE BILLION RISING 2017. It surpassed our expectation.
We would specially like to thank our chief guest Ms. Kamala Bhasin. She needs no introduction. KMWSC team is absolutely smitten and is in awe of this amazing and powerful lady. She is indeed a trend setter and a visionary. She helped us broaden our perspective and opened new vistas for us.
We would also like to thank our guest performers, who set the ball rolling; Shane Hyrapiet, Daya Nidhi Rao, Rodney Rodrigues, Kamran Khurshid, Christopher Lobo, Peter Gomes, Greig Francis, Aaron Claudius, Riya D’ Abreo; who stood by us and with the cause…we are thankful to them to have taken their precious time out.
We especially thank the principals, teachers and students of St. Thomas School, Julien Day School, Albany Hall Public School, St. Georges’ School, St. Mary’s School, St. Anthony School, La Martiniere School, St. Joseph’s School, Rabindra Bharati University, Vidyasagar School of Social Work, Behala Keertika, our little starlets from Rainbow and our talented bunch of stars from our own project site. What brilliant and thoughtful performances Mohorkunj got to see that day. They set the stage on fire with their blazing performances.
We are happy that we could touch the lives of so many people who stood with us in our pledge to take a step ahead to stop the atrocities meted out to women.
One Billion Risisng 2017 has been a rewarding experience, but Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre will not rest on its laurels; the lingering essence of One Billion Rising 2017 will give us the impetus to prepare and take another step ahead in One Billion Rising 2018.
WE THANK EACH ONE WHO HAD BEEN WITH US ON 14.02.17, IN PERSON OR IN THOUGHT
