KMWSC started replicating the Multipurpose Activity Centres (MAC) from previous project’s learning into new slum areas of Kolkata. A need based survey was conducted in Muraripukur (ward – 32), Cossipore (ward – 1), Talah (Ward -5) under Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Rajabagan (ward – 3), Chinikuthi (ward-5), Dunlop(ward- 1) of Baranagar Municipality; the outcome has consolidated the fact that working with street children is not enough. EVCP was started in March 2017 with six MAC facilitators. The project aim is to comprehensively protect children against child labour across the city in Kolkata through an integrated approach of prevention, response, system strengthening, awareness raising and evidence sharing.
