KMWSC runs a community education and adult education programme, in these villages in South 24 Parganas.
The project is being implemented in Sonapota and Chaulgola in the district of South 24 parganas, West Bengal. Total population of Chaulgola village and Sonpota is approximately 2000 and 1200 respectively.
Most of the people of both these areas are socially and economically backward. In Chaulgola, there are many villagers who live in abject poverty. They stay in tiny mud huts with minimum amenities. There are no proper roads or connectivity, insufficient power supply, lack of safe drinking water and unhygienic sanitation.
Children of both places have low learning level and students drop out every year owing to poor level of learning and lack of home support and guidance. We run our two centres catering to 164 children and 6 local teachers. Life skill education of 60 adolescent children is a major intervention in the community.
The community especially 55 women are being sensitized on various social issues and are looking towards economic development through vocational training.
