Monitoring Visit at Moshal Public School , Budge Budge , Kolkata

February 25, 2019

Assistant Coordinator of Barefoot travelled to Chandipur a place in Budge Budge, located in South 24 parganas of West Bengal to visit Moshal Public School.8 teachers from the above mentioned school had undergone level-I training of Barefoot in the month of December 2018. The visit was pre-planned for monitoring and follows up purpose. The Assistant Coordinator reached the school by 8.30a.m and took part in their morning prayer. The school was founded in the year 2017 has currently 176 students including boys and girls. As 21st February 2019 has been designated as International Mother Tongue Day the children paid homage to the martyrs who dedicated their life and fought for the recognition of Mother Tongue. As the school started from 9:00am the assistant Coordinator visited each class from lower nursery to class –II and followed the teaching methodologies. In each class it was seen the teachers aptly followed the Barefoot Methodologies in language Development as the children were well versed with conversation, the children of lower nursery started conversing in a well-mannered way and the girls of upper KG were smart enough in answering questions from look and say card, even the rhymes and actions were thoroughly imitated ,children of kg classes dramatized the story of the hungry lion with perfection, Children were prompt in answering the easy and difficult question of number development by following the Barefoot Methodologies. They confidently answered the numerical number after and before. But in class-I it was noticed that some children were very weak and they were finding difficulties in grasping the matter, easy methodologies were provided to both the teachers and the students so that children can grasp the lesson in an easy way. Along with that new action rhymes and methodologies were shown to the children for easy access of the lesson. The major drawback is that the school lacks in providing the teaching learning material for the classes which fulfils the important part of the Barefoot Training. The resource person had a discussion regarding the above method with the Director of the school which they had promised to fulfil in future. Both the Director and the teachers are keen for Level-II training, in which the authority had invited the resource person to their school as they will arrange a four days training programme in collaboration of other near by schools.
