Nandita Baruah joined the Asia Foundation in 2008 as the Chief of Party for the Counter-trafficking in Persons (CTIP) project in Cambodia and moved to the CTIP programme in Nepal in 2011 as the Chief of Party. Ms Baruah headed various other South Asian regional programmes on human trafficking, and for her outstanding work, was awarded the Prime Minister’s Gold Medal by the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC), in recognition of her support for the creation of victim protection policies and practices.
