The convergence meet was to bring each and every participation from the stake holders together to understand, know and assess the anti human trafficking Initiative together and reach to ideas for future endeavours and activities. Triparna Nandy (Project Co-ordinator Anti-Human trafficking –Diamond Harbour I) conducted the meeting and brought together the Theme: Our Unity is our Pride”

The convergence was successful as participation from the District Administration, Law enforcement agencies (Police), the Panchayat heads were present, and above all the community participated enthusiastically where the Community vigilance committee and the Adolescent Girls group from the villages, altogether 32 were present for the programme. The girls shared their insight into the knowledge of trafficking and even how they had been involved in rescuing some from the net of the traffickers.

The representatives from the community vigilance group also spoke on very serious and vital matters. The women Police Officer In charge of Canning I shared her experiences and explained the evils of trafficking and stated that her record shows there was a fall in the registration of cases for trafficking in comparison to 2016-2017. The representative of Diamond harbour women police also spoke on the same subject.

The Director welcomed all with her kind words. She was very grateful that after 4 years of KMWSC interventions in Canning and now in Diamond harbour the KMWSC has been able to partner and make a visibility of their work, she said, “We do not do the work along . We believe you are equal components in the partnership to see that Human trafficking do not take place in these areas of Canning and diamond harbour. The challenges are immense. But there is a way forward with unity amongst us. Hope this convergence meet will consolidate our solidarity for our Anti- Human Trafficking Endeavour.”

Ms. Sudheshna Roy member of WBCPCR gave the key note address and emphasised on the transformative minds of girls what will bring them liberation. Girls are strong and they need not submit to anyone. They should be strong and strengthen others in the community
