Pritha Nag from KMWSC intervention area rescues her friend being Trafficked .

The 17 year old girl Prithi Nag(Name changed) from Daria Village in Canning I narrated how she helped rescue a neighbour and a classmate 2 years ago. When Prithi did not see her friend Misha (Name Changed) for quite some time over the days she was worried that where could she be . Prithi soon enquired at her tuition class and got to know that Misha left early the previous day . Soon after when Pritha visited her house she was informed by Misha’s parents that she has gone to Bihar with a man who has promised her a job which made her feel a bit uncomfortable as she was taught at our workshop how the traffickers lure young girls. Pritha was quiet and was brainstorming on what to do next to get her friend back from their Jaws. Somehow she got the man’s phone number and tried to speak to him asking him for a job for herself and to bring back Misha as she convinced the man that she had better potentials than Misha . The man was soon convinced and agreed a date that he would have the exchange in one of Kolkata’s main train station. The day arrived and Pritha as brave as ever was ready for the confrontation. She did not go alone, her grandfather and her uncle accompanied her but they were not near her trying to show the man that she was all alone. After waiting for many hours she was called by the man to come to the exchange spot which was crowded with people. Pritha reached the spot and as soon as she spotted Misha standing in the midst of the crowd she grabbed her hand and ran off without looking back. During all this Pritha’s Uncle and grandfather were monitoring the whole incident. They both came to a safe place and met their family and went back home safely. Pritha was indeed smart enough for her quick thinking not giving a chance to the trafficker to intervene. We salute Pritha Nag for saving her friend Misha’s life and this extraordinary act of bravery has not been overlooked at all . Pritha Nag has been felicitated and honoured by  West Bengal  Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCPCR)  with the Birangana Award (An award achieved for uniqueness and bravery) . We salute her for her courage .
